아담 스미스의 국부론.The Book of An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith
아담 스미스는 당시 유행한 중상주의를 비판적으로 극복하는 것을 목표로 삼음. 국부the wealth of nation는 금과 은으로 구성된 것이 아니고 국민이 향유하는 연간 노동생산물로 구성돼 있다는 것을 증명하려함. 그것을 난해한 철학이나 경제이론이 아니라 풍부한 역사적 지식을 통해 설명해나간다.
그래서 스미스의 그 유명한 보이지않는 손an invisible hand 에 관한 논리를 소개함.
고전경제학의 창시자로 1740-1746년 옥스퍼드대학교 칼리지에서 공부하고서 1751년에 글래스고대학교 교수가 됨. 경제학의 아버지로 불리게 되었고, 근대경제학, 마르크스 경제학은 스미스의 국부론 으로부터 출발. 국부론은 1776년 스미스가 발표하면서 당시의 영국의 자유통상정책으로 구체화됨.
